Sarah, From Greg Spencer,I have been reading your blogs ever since April. I realy enjoy the way you express your thinking and writing. But wounder why you started writing less and less. Whish I could be with you threw this very very hard time for you. The Hunger season will be here soon. Love you Greg

West Africa - Airmail

Care Package Requests:

*dried fruit (everything except for pineapple)

*walnuts, almonds, cashews, anything high in protein

*protein/granola bars of any type

*non-sugar/no fake sugar water additives (ex. Gatorade, lemonade)

*trail mix

*anything from the grocery store that you can add water, oil, or eggs to and cook/bake to eat. (brownie/cookie/muffin mixes, potatoes)

*any backpacking food from backpacking stores

*magazines (anything from people to the economist to travel)

*cheese wrapped in wax

*summer sausage (packaged)

*pasta sauce packets

*freeze dried veggies

Diet here is heavy in starches and oil so anything that has some nutritional value and protein will be used and appreciated.

**take everything out of the packaging, write the directions on the bag and stuff tightly into the box to be shipped to make the most of the space**

Care Package Advice:

*Include "Airmail/Par Avion" on all mail

*Number letters and packages for sequence purposes

*Get the prepaid international boxes, from the post office, pack it at home and bring it back to the post office. Packing in any other box but the prepaid will be much more expensive!

*Be as vague as possible on customs forms, almost anything can be "educational materials" and/or "nutritional supplements"

*Mail takes 2 to 7 weeks to arrive in The Gambia...send often

*Mailrun to upcountry happen every other month, so mail could take as long as 3 months to get to me.
